The State Of Independence...


Happy overcast Friday! It is sort of a day off and the plan is to go to Waterworld. We may not need to drive tho' to find water. That's okay. Rain or Shine, we are free to do what we choose. New neighbors moved into the development yesterday and as it turns out, one is a Vet! How utterly convenient. Not that we would take advantage but the comfort zone is there. Police, Vets, Technology wizards, Nurses, and an Interior Designer live here. We can handle any emergency just in this one Courtyard. As it is July 4th, we all know what happened on this day involving independence. In 1802 at West Point, New York the United States Military Academy opened. In 1827 Slavery was abolished in New York State. In 1862 Lewis Carroll told Alice Liddell a story that would grow into Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, in 1881 the Tuskegee Institute opened in Alabama, in 1886 the people of France offered the Statue of Liberty to the people of the United States, in 1946 after 381 years of near-continuous colonial rule, the Philippines is granted full independence by the United States, in 1950 first broadcast by Radio Free Europe. Those are just a handful of things that happened on July 4th. Can anyone think of anything else? If you are prepping food today, please keep in mind a rather Americana set of Red Kitchen Canisters that will keep things independent of bugs and humidity.

We hold these truths to be self-evident,
