...David and Goliath

Hello. It is earlier than usual for me to post a blog but I have to get my truck into the shop soon, thus the hour. I am going to a meeting this evening in Philadelphia to listen to a discussion about the over 700 unfairness that come along with same sex couples not being able to legally marry.I personally am not big on marriage anyway, but fair is not fair it seems. Sort of like David taking on Goliath who was supposedly 6'7" tall. But that's not as big as some barriers and prejudices held by people who take marriage as a religious matter that can only be between a woman and a man. On this day in 1504, Michelangelo's David was unveiled in Florence. It is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture measuring seventeen feet and made of marble. As we all know, the sculpture portrays the Biblical King David in the nude. Unlike previous depictions of David which portray the hero after his victory over Goliath, Michelangelo chose to represent David before the fight contemplating the battle yet to come. The completed sculpture was unveiled on 8 September, 1504. Does anyone out there feel that they are doing battle with a giant? I thought so. It can make one weary but please stay strong, or summon up every bit of strength to keep fighting the good fight/whatever that may be. Be your own David if you can't find one or use this 'Studded Glass Top Table' instead.
