...shelter

I have loved a song called 'Shelter" since I first heard it back in 1986. I even have it on my IPOD after burning out the CD's several times. The other evening as I returned home late from work, my dear neighbor Contessa asked for my help. It seems that two baby ducks, one black, one white, had lost their way and were scared. I spoke to them and then picked up the one, and then the other and we placed them into a laundry basket. It just dawned on me these many years later why I love the song 'Shelter.' To me it has nothing to do with human companionship. (no surprise for those who know me). It has everything to do with animals. Baby Boy 1, Baby Boy 2, Camille, Max, Maxie, Prince, Beau, Charlie and other 4 legged friends that find themselves at my front door, barking to be let in. There must be magic across my threshold and I love that. And the shelter that I can provide from the storm outside.

Well alright, you gave it all up for a dream
Fate proved unkind, to lock the door and leave no key
You're unsure,
Well baby I'm scared too
When the world crushes you

Let me be your shelter, shelter
From the storm outside
Let me be your shelter, shelter
From the endless night

Disillusion has an edge so sharp
It tears at your soul and leaves a stain upon your heart
I need you, to wash mine clean
You've felt it too, and you need me

Let me be your shelter, shelter
From the storm outside
Let me be your shelter, shelter
From the endless night

You're struggle with darkness has left you blind
I'll light the fire in your eyes

Let me be your shelter, shelter
From the storm outside
Let me be your shelter, shelter
From the endless night
