Last night we wanted the air conditioner on since it was unusually warm. All that I needed to do was to turn a switch to cool the home. I also knew that when the electricity bill arrived, I could pay it. How simple, wonderful and blessed am I. Mankind has always been searching for sources of energy to keep things rolling and sometimes stuff happens while we try to grow. On this day in 1986, the world's worst nuclear accident occurred at the Chernobyl plant in the Soviet Union. An explosion and fire in the No. 4 reactor sent radioactivity into the atmosphere; at least 31 Soviets died immediately. Finding and keeping ways to keep us energized are of paramount importance so we keep on trying, perfecting and growing. Nuclear accidents,common mode failures,dam failures,oil spills are all unfortunately part of growing pains. Let's appreciate the sources of energy that we have and do our best to use them wisely.
